Zombie TV Shows

Strictly speaking there aren't many actual TV shows starring Zombies but a large number of shows touch on the potent zombie theme.

Some from the top of my head to follow up at a later date:

Buffy, as you might imagine from everyone's favourite vampire slayer, deals with Zombies of various different origins (science, magic, etc.):

Angel also deals with zombies in a number of episodes, as you might imagine from a Buffy spin off.

"Habeas Corpses" (Season 4 Episode 8) - the Beast enters Wolfram and Hart and kills everyone inside causing the lockdown procedures to seal the building trapping Connor inside so everyone has to return to get him out but the dead come back to life although the reason is unclear - it my be something to do with the Beast (which is unlikely as he never did it before or since) or it is part of the lockdown's defensive procedure.

http://www.buffy-vs-angel.com/angel_epg_74.shtml

The last contains a well known quote (amongst many good ones):

quote:
Angel: It's a zombie.
Connor: What's a zombie?
Angel: It's an undead thing.
Connor: Like you?
Angel: No. Zombies are slow moving, dimwitted things that crave human flesh.
Connor: Like you.
Angel: No. It's different, trust me.

The Simpsons has mention zombies a large number of times. For example:

Tree House of Horror III (Season 4 - 9F04) - the third part "Dial Z for Zombie"

Treehouse of Horror XIII (Season 14 - DABF19) - the second part "The Fright to Creep and Scare Harms"

You can even buy Simpson Family Zombie Bendables

Kolchak

Episode 2 "The Zombie" is (as might be obvious from the title) the only episode to really deal with zombies and if the recollections on Jumping the Shark are anything to go on most people, while finding the series generally formulaic, did find the zombie episode on of the best (especially the death scene where he has to pour salt in the sleeping zombie's mouth and sew its lips shut).

. From the Kolchak timeline:

quote:
1974
August 14 - 20
After filing his story on the death of crime syndicate member Willie Pike, Kolchak is sent to a police stand-off where more syndicate members, the Russo brothers, are killed. Denied info by the police, Kolchak goes to morgue attendant Gordon "Gordy the Ghoul" Spangler, who tells him that not only were the deaths of Pike and the Russo's not your standard events - they all had their spines snapped - but another body was found with the Russos. A Haitian named Francois Edmonds that Gordy had seen the week prior with six .44 magnum slugs in his chest and chicken blood in his ear. Kolchak realizes a zombie is on the loose, after those involved in his death. One of those is police captain Winwood, which indicates to Kolchak that Winwood was involved in some less-than-honest activities, but his evidence is destroyed during the final confrontation with the zombie and Francois Edmonds is laid to rest in St. Lucy's Cemetary for the third (and hopefully final) time.

South Park has touched on zombies at least once (Season 1 episode 7: "Pink Eye") where Kenny get an infusion from a bottle of Worcestershire Sauce after being squashed by the Mir space station leading to a lot of good old fashioned zombie action and chef really rises to the occasion, in more ways than one. See:

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-344/epid-2423/

There is also a "28 Days Later" reference in "Casa Bonita" (series 7 episode 11):

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-344/epid-284638/

Also in one of my favourite episodes "Mecha-Streisand" (Series 1 episode 12) a newsman refers to an attack of zombies:

quote:
Newsman: And so just weeks after the devastating attack of mutant genetic creatures, zombies, and Thanksgiving turkeys, the town of South Park has managed to rebuild itself once again be- (Mecha-Streisand destroys South Park)-Oh God Dammit! Not Again!

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-344/epid-2428/

There is also a flashback to the zombie attack in "Red Man's Greed" (series 7 episode 7):

Spaced had an episode ("Art" Series 1 Episode 3) on zombies which eventually got turned into the full length film Shaun of the Dead.

http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Network/8023/ep3.html

Father Ted had an epsiode ("Night of the Nearly Dead" - episode 23 season 3) with Eoin McLove where the zombies were in fact infatuated old ladies (possibly the most frightening of them all).

The X-Files possibly touches on the issue a few times most notably in the episode 'Millenium' where they team up with Frank Black.

http://www.space.com/sciencefiction/tv/xfiles_704_991129.html

The Haitian zombie is also featured in the episode 'Fresh Bones' where a number of guards at a processing centre for Haitian refugees start dying and one turns up alive (series 2 episode 15). See:

http://www.carterphile.com/EpGuides/OS/FreshBones.html

Zombies feature prominently in the computer game "Resist or Serve" which is presented as 3 'extra' episodes from the 7th series.

Andromeda - in "Dance of the Mayflies" an alien virus/species gets on board the ship and reanimates the dead.

http://www.bibliora.com/P5_0502/html/and215.html

Doctor Who in epsidoe 3 of the current series "The Unquiet Dead" aliens from another part of the universe were crossing over and taking over dead human bodies of Cardfiff in 1869 and all sorts of fun ensues!! It does have a similar feel to the above Andromeda episode but the period details and the zombies (which were mentioned by name: "You put me in a room full of zombies!!!") were nicely done and it was a satisfying episode.

Lexx - most obviously Kai ("the Jimmy Dean of the walking dead" as well as being the last of the Brunnen G and an assassin for the Divine Order) is an undead assassin who has been dead for millenia and is only kept alive with proto-blood and being put into stasis - see:

http://www.sadgeezer.com/lexx/kai.htm

http://www.lexxdirectory.co.uk/kaimore.html

There was also the episode "Xevivor" (Season 4 episode 5) which featured the odd carrot-shaped probes (which are designed to taste things, inclduing people, and report back to their mothership) which then reanimate the people they've killed ino "cyborg killing machines" but then get distracted by a ship offshores who's passengers are blending carrots "bad boat, bad boat" (don't ask me why it was confusing even by Lexx's standards and a great episode to boot). See:

http://www.sadgeezer.com/lexx/lexx4-05.htm

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-2065/epid-57542

At one point Xev is killed and in a truly dreadful episode, "A Midsummers Nightmare" (Season 4 Episode 11), they get Oberon the Fairy King to bring her back to life:

http://www.sadgeezer.com/lexx/lexx4-11.htm

Angry Beavers - in "Open Wide for Zombies" (Episode 24 in Season 2) the young beavers get swept away in a flood and they meet a swamp witch and a man who wants beaver teach for his voodoo potion.

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-4052/epid-79966/

Jonathon Creek - In "The Three Gamblers" (Series 3 Episode 6) the wizard's apprentice (well OK trickmaker) is called in a case where a man with 6 bullets in his head seems to have come back to life to seek revenge on his murderers using the power of Haitian voodoo.
