Web Design Collective

I read an article on freelancing recently and one of the pieces of advice was not to go it alone but get a group of people together and form a Web Design Collective so I'll be looking into this issue and thrwoing any thoughts I have in here.

My general idea is that you get a group of talented people together with a range of skills and then you can custom build a team to work on a specific project (from a Flash-rich website for a band to a data-rich one for a business). Everyone gets pad for the work they do as well as their being a finders-fee for the person who brings the specific jobs in.

The main concerns are:

Someone will be stuck sorting out the bills and chasing up clients (and that someone might be me)

That the taxes and hassles of running such a group might make it easier to run as a more conventional company
