This tends to be the aim of certain web designers. By using the a combination of HTML/XHTML and CSS. Its worth pointing out that the aim of getting rid of tables is to make our code Semantically Correct - if it is Standards Compliant then that is all well and good ;)

The CSS Holy Grail is a 3 column design with static flanking columns and a liquid centre.
