Slang
It all started with the accidental arrival of the 'Dictionary of Slang' which hadn't been ordered from a book club but which was so enlightening it had to be kept ;)
Slang opens up a whole new world ofthe inventiveness of people in their eveyday language and terms for acts you didn't even know exists (there is also the chance to laugh at rude words).
You can get the 2000 edition of the Dictionary of Slang from
Amazon (I have the 1998 version) - the author, Jonathon Green, is an expert on slang, he has been described as "one of Britain’s leading lexicographers", (see the
list of his publications at Amazon or at
AllBookstores.com) and the book is amazingly well researched - the etymology can be a real pleasure.
