Help U Linker
There are various things that can be implemented to help
U Linker perform to the best of its abilities:
1. Put the title tag as high up the page as possible - it relies on grabbing the name of the page from the title tags so the higher up the page the title tags are the less of the page needs to be grabbed (I have things set up to grab 8kb of external sites and 4kb of internal ones).
2. Make the title tag meaningful and if you have a dynamic site make sure there is a way to pass extra information to the title tag to help distinguish your page from the others on your site.
3. Don't use JavaScript to open a new window with the external site - this appears to kill the referrer header which is the engine of
U Linker. I've decided to offer a number of alternatives so that people can be flexible in what they want to do (that includes leaving in JavaScript as a last resort for those using early XHTML who don't move to using the target module).
4. Try not to have the same page available via multiple URLs. Either due to having multiple URLs resolve on one page or by having the same content on multiple pages (I only offer the main
Gabble entry on one page and offer a shortened version with the tags stripped out on other pages).
